The classic inca trail is not a common trail, is a PILGRIMAGE, which at inca time has been taken by Inca who was the emperor  accompanied by his entourage even people. Nowadays The Classic Inca Trail start at PISCACUCHO or 82 KM as well, in the sacred valley (is call 82 KM because from Cusco to Piscacucho has 82 KM by the train track). At inca time this trail has been hiked by SAPAQ INKA king and his entourage, doing a pilgrimage passing by temples and altar, crossing highest mountains and native forest to finally arrive to the sanctuary, spiritual place where they should go clean soul and spirit.
